OHSU Study Finds Ginkgo Beneficial For MS Symptoms

Findings by Oregon Health & Science University scientists appear to back up what many multiple sclerosis sufferers have long thought: The herbal supplement ginkgo biloba helps reduce symptoms of the neurological disorder. A new study suggests that ginkgo may be effective in improving attention in MS patients with cognitive impairment. Its lead author said those receiving ginkgo "performed better on a test that measures a person's ability to pay attention and to sort conflicting information."

About 70 Percent Of Older Adults Use Alternative Medicine

Nearly three out of every four adults over age 50 use some kind of alternative medicine, such as acupuncture and herbal medicine, according to a new study. While previous research has been limited, this appears to be a higher rate than occurs within the general population, said Gong-Soog Hong, co-author of the study and professor of consumer sciences at Ohio State University.
